Lake Junaluska, NC – “Standing on Holy Ground” is the theme for the 2013 Summer Worship Series at Lake Junaluska, celebrating its 100th anniversary this year.
The Summer Worship Series runs Sundays, June 16 – August 11, with Holy Communion offered at 8:30 a.m. in Memorial Chapel, and a traditional morning worship service held at 10:45 a.m. in Historic Stuart Auditorium. The Junaluska Singers provide worship music and guest speakers lead the worship service. Childcare is provided for the 10:45 a.m. worship service.
Bishop Ivan Abrahams will preach at the 10:45 a.m. worship service, Sunday, June 23, at Stuart Auditorium.
Abrahams is the fourth person and first South African to serve as general secretary of the World Methodist Council. He began his tenure in 2012. From 2003-2012, Abrahams served as Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church of Southern Africa–one of the largest Christian denominations in Southern Africa. During his tenure he provided prophetic leadership and direction. His capstone achievement was the formation and successful completion of the multimillion rand legacy project, the Seth Mokitimi Methodist Seminary.
