With Christmas concerts and an impressive crafts show, Lake Junaluska’s Appalachian Christmas Celebration is the perfect getaway weekend to shop for unique hand-crafted gifts or to just relax and absorb the beauty of the season. Cozy up in a rustic cabin or enjoy a brisk walk around the lake to feed the resort’s wintering wildlife and view the resort’s magnificent surroundings. Some of the weekend’s events include the Lake Junaluska Singers Christmas concerts set for 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7, with a repeat concert at 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, at historic Stuart Auditorium. A preconcert will be held from 2:15 to 2:45 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, by Voices in the Laurel, the region’s award-winning youth choir.
Saturday evening’s performance of Handel’s Messiah will feature the Lake Junaluska Singers, accompanied by regional choirs and orchestra. The craft show, featuring some of the best crafters and artisans in the area, will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, at the Harrell Center.
