Every year, youth make heartfelt commitments to their churches, pledging to be faithful in their witness, prayers, presence, gifts, and service. At Lake Junaluska Confirmation Weekend Retreats, youth are encouraged to explore the deeper meanings of that commitment with other youth, establishing lasting bonds through their shared commitment to Christ.
During their time at Lake Junaluska, youth discover the rich heritage within Methodism and the Southeastern Jurisdiction as they visit the World Methodist Museum and the SEJ Heritage Center. These interactive tours allow participants to see, hear, and touch their history and the history of their church.
“I enjoyed the church worship, workshops, and getting closer with God,” said past confirmand Mason Tomburlly when asked to name his favorite part of the confirmation retreat.
Confirmation weekends are more than just learning experiences – they are transforming worship experiences! With new bands and new speakers each weekend like Providence, Stephen Street, and Forgotten City, Don Washburn, Andy Lambert, Carolyn Poling, and Duffy Robins, there are ample opportunities for youth to experience a shared commitment to Christ with other youth at Lake Junaluska. Over 2,000 youth and youth leaders attend Confirmation at Lake Junaluska each year.
2011 Confirmation Weekends will challenge and inspire youth. New workshop tracks are being offered, including SELAH, a time of reflection where youth leaders and confirmands discuss how they will apply the teachings received in their unique communities. Other mini-workshops include prayer, worship, fitness, and diversity.
Confirmation weekends at Lake Junaluska begin March 18-20, 2011. For more information, visit www.lakejunaluska.com/confirmation-1.
