LAKE JUNALUSKA, N.C. – Lake Junaluska Assembly received a LEO Award from the North Carolina American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC/NC) as a key client of Cavanaugh & Associates, P.A. ACEC established the LEO Awards to recognize member company clients whose relationship is exemplary and who support the ideals and needs of the consulting engineering profession.
Cavanaugh was engaged by Lake Junaluska Assembly (Assembly) to perform a pressure management and water loss study for their water system. Cavanaugh approached the Assembly with a means to address drought conditions and aging infrastructure. Water loss through infrastructure accounts for the majority of water loss within a system, which impacts operations and maintenance expenses and hinders system capacity. The proposed study was introduced and the Assembly recognized the value that the study and recommendations would bring value to its water system. Results of the study included recommendations on reducing peak pressures within the system, as well as pinpointed locations of leaks on waterlines needing repair.
The project manager was Will Jernigan, P.E., Cavanaugh’s Asheville Branch Manager who worked with Buddy Young, the Assembly’s Residential Services Director. The Cavanaugh field team worked closely with the Assembly team, including Bob Gaddis, Residential Services Office Manager and Utility Crew members David Ward, Jeff Mull, and Brian Aldridge.
With the nomination for the LEO Award, Cavanaugh commends the Assembly for its innovation and proactive approach to managing water resources. “We appreciate the professional partnership with Cavanaugh & Associates. Their recommendations will help us assure the quality and efficiency of our infrastructure, and we appreciate the Lake Junaluska staff in Residential Services for offering effective leadership in the Lake Junaluska community,” said Jimmy Carr, Executive Director of Lake Junaluska.
