Clarisse Colao, 21, joins the Junaluska Singers from Chicago, IL. She is the daughter of Susan and Ralph Colao of Libertyville, IL, her hometown. She is a senior at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, majoring in vocal performance. Clarisse recently won 3
rd place at the regional NATS competition. This past year, she played the roles of Mary Hildebrandt in Kurt Weil’s “Street Scene,” and Zerlina in Mozart’s “Don Giovanni,” both performed by UT Opera Theatre. Clarisse is a member of Chamber Singers at UTK, and sang at Carnegie Hall in the summer of 2007 with the UTK Concert Choir. She is the President of Sigma Alpha Iota, the women’s music fraternity, and also president of the School of Music Advisory Council. Clarisse is also a member of the Oean’s Student Advisory Council for the College of Arts and Sciences. She is a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Libertyville, IL, and this is her second year with the Junaluska Singers.
