Leading the Middle Size Church

July 21-24, 2014

Many clergy find that they must redefine their role as pastor in the middle-sized church due to its increasing demands and complexities. The skills which may have served one's ministry well in the small membership church may be inadequate in the middle-sized church. This seminar will examine and identify the unique characteristics of the middle-sized (100—300 average worship attendance) church. The seminar is especially designed for clergy who currently serve, or will soon serve, in this type of ministry setting.

Major topics addressed include:

  • Challenges and opportunities of the mid-sized church
  • Planning and organizing for ministry
  • Leadership development involving laity
  • Stewardship, fundraising, financial management
  • Creating new worship experiences
  • Identifying and developing new ministries
  • Effective committees and ministry teams
  • Redefining the pastoral role -- self care
  • Growing the mid-sized church
