Lake Junaluska, NC – “Standing on Holy Ground” is the theme for the 2013 Summer Worship Series at Lake Junaluska, celebrating its 100th anniversary this year.
The Summer Worship Series runs Sundays, June 16 – August 11, with Holy Communion offered at 8:30 a.m. in Memorial Chapel, and a traditional morning worship service held at 10:45 a.m. in Historic Stuart Auditorium. The Junaluska Singers provide worship music and guest speakers lead the worship service. Childcare is provided for the 10:45 a.m. worship service.
Bishop Larry Goodpaster, will provide the sermon, at 10:45 a.m. Sunday, June 23, at Stuart Auditorium, which will also be the closing service of the Western North Carolina annual Conference. Goodpaster is bishop of the conference.
Goodpaster has served as President of the Council of Bishops, presiding bishop of the Alabama-West Florida Annual Conference, and in a variety of appointments in the Mississippi Annual Conference.
Goodpaster earned a B.A. degree from Millsaps College in Jackson, Ms, and both the M.Div. and D.Min. degrees from Candler School of Theology, Atlanta. He has received honorary degrees from Huntingdon College, Birmingham-Southern College and Millsaps College.
