LAKE JUNALUSKA, NC – Under the direction of PGA Professional and golf course manager Rick Constance, the Lake Junaluska Golf Course is offering a Junior Girls’ Golf Program this summer. Young ladies between the ages of 7 and 17 are welcome to join this program for a one time registration fee of $25. Constance will host a three-day clinic to teach basic rules, etiquette, and golf instruction to prepare the girls for their ventures on the golf course on June 14,15, and 16, 2010.
“We are offering the Junior Girls’ Golf Program to those interested in having a place to play, learn, and grow. I encourage all junior girls to join if they just want to have fun, or if they want to learn to play competitively,” said Rick Constance.
Following the clinic, young ladies will meet regularly each Thursday at 5:00pm, where they will continue to learn the game of golf, participate in general play days, and enjoy the camaraderie that accompanies golf.
“Lake Junaluska is grateful to Rick Constance for his vision of this exciting program for junior girls,” said Jimmy L. Carr, Executive Director of Lake Junaluska. “This golf program will be a wonderful ministry to young girls, and will encourage them to build integrity and character, and will allow them to establish lifelong friendships.”
Junior program participants will sign a pledge form, committing to honor the game of golf, their fellow players, and to respect the courses they play on, as well as to be honest at all time and show integrity. Participants will receive free limited access to the Lake Junaluska Golf Course, free instruction as available, free Basic Rules of Golf book, and a free USGA handicap. For those junior girls that do not have clubs, the golf course will help acquire or loan clubs as needed.
“For those who cannot make it to the initial clinic dates in June, I encourage you to sign up early anyway,” said Constance. “Other clinics will take place, and lessons will be ongoing. We want as many junior girls who are interested in golf to take part in this opportunity.”
Registration for the three-day clinic and the continued group instruction begins June 1, and will be ongoing. Registration forms can be picked up at the Lake Junaluska Pro Shop.
