Mr. Freeman Owle attended Gardner Webb College and received a Master’s degree in Education from Western Carolina University. He tells traditional Cherokee stories, carves wood and stone, and talks about Cherokee culture and history. Born in Bird Town area on the Qualla Boundary in Cherokee, he is of Cherokee and Scot-Irish descent. Well known in the Cherokee community, Freeman serves on the Board of Directors of the Qualla Arts and Crafts Mutual and is a coordinator for the Cherokee Heritage Trails Project of the Blue Ridge Heritage Initiative.
