first-timers. The shimmering Nantahala River offers whitewater rafting through mild but exciting rapids. Nantahala rafting features eight miles of practice on easy Class II rapids before splashing through the exciting Class III whitewater of Nantahala Falls. This is one of America’s most popular whitewater runs, so expect to see other paddlers playing in the waves.

French Broad River
The French Broad River, where you'll find exciting waves and picturesque views. French Broad whitewater rafting trips take you down the world's third oldest river and is a great activity to add to your Western North Carolina vacation. The stately French Broad flows through scenic Pisgah National Forest in the mountains of North Carolina, and is ideal for families and young teens. On French Broad River rafting trips, you can expect moderate Class II and III rapids that are splashy and fun. The full-day trip option adds the percussive, Class IV Frank Bell's Rapid, a river-wide, bouncy drop. Rafters must be at least 8 years old on the French Broad.
