Summer 2011POSTPONED to Summer 2011. Trail of Hope Native American Youth Conference - The first of its kind in the Southeastern Jurisdiction, this historic three-day event is designed to focus on inter-tribal and intra-tribal ministries with United Methodist Native young people across the Southeast Jurisdiction. The Gathering is intended to celebrate and experience the diversity and uniqueness of Native American's, bolster one's knowledge about various issues from a historical, contemporary, spiritual, and cultural perspective.
Today, First Peoples or Native Americans still experience cultural extremes of existing between the traditional way of life and contemporary society. Social problems have replaced respect, honor, and integrity. The purpose of this historic event is to inspire young people and leaders from tribal communities to sustain an effective, empowered life in Christ. The event is designed to focus on societal challenges and common struggles that Native young people face daily and offer answers and approaches that are Christ-centered. Time includes cultural and spiritual broadening, interactive sessions, leadership training, builds up leadership skills, fellowship, and reflection through sermon, worshipping, singing, prayers, and outings.
