August 5-7, 2012Shifting Leadership: from Managerial to Strategic/Missional: In a time of deep change the measure of leadership shifts from being efficient to being effective. It is not a matter of doing our work better but doing our work differently in order to be missionally effective. Our UMC is now faced with questions of economic sustainability, and more importantly, with questions of relevance. Can we speak to a changed culture and a new mission field?
Leaders across the connection are wrestling with new demands on their roles and seeking to learn more about change itself. Much of the work needed from leaders at this moment depends on the assumptions we hold about ourselves and our leadership roles as well as learning to be strategic rather than managerial. Our time together will explore the challenges now facing us and learning about appropriate responses.
Early Registration fee $120 per person (on or before May 30th)
