SCHOLARSHIP GUIDELINES
The guidelines below are provided to help you properly complete the scholarship application form. The instructions are numbered according to the questions on the application. It is hoped that these guidelines will answer any questions you have about completing the form. However, if you have questions that are not covered, you may send an email with your question to Abridges@lakejunaluska.com or call Anne Bridges at 828-454-6697.
Please read the guidelines below very carefully to assure that you do not miss out on any scholarship assistance for which you may be eligible!
1a. There is special scholarship assistance set aside for Duke Endowment eligible United Methodist rural churches in the North Carolina Conference and the Western North Carolina Conference. If you are a member of a rural United Methodist church in the state of North Carolina but are not sure if yours is a Duke Endowment eligible rural church, you may want to check with your pastor to see if your church is Duke Endowment Eligible.
1b. If your church is NOT a Duke Endowment eligible church: We also have other limited scholarship assistance for which you may be eligible. You may still apply for scholarship assistance.
2. Average attendance. Many larger congregations have set aside funds in their budgets for persons to attend conferences. If your worship attendance is less than 125 you are more likely to be considered for a scholarship. However, regardless of the worship attendance of your church, you are still eligible to apply.
3. We have discovered that if more than one person from the same church attend an event, it is much easier for them as a team to communicate and implement what they have learned at the event than if either attends alone. By coming as a team, you provide reinforcement and support for each other as you seek to share with the rest of the church what you have learned and hope to see happen in your local congregation.
Your completed and signed application may be submitted either by mail to: Anne Bridges, P. O. Box 67, Lake Junaluska, NC 28745, OR faxed to (828) 452-1956, OR emailed to abridges@lakejunaluska.com (as long as the application bears the necessary signature. Scanned documents are acceptable).
Completed applications must be returned no later than July 27, 2012. The sooner we receive your application, the sooner you will hear if you have qualified for the scholarship. Act quickly, keeping in mind that the number of scholarships is limited.
