Tara Scarborough (RYT-200) has been a student of yoga for almost 25 years. She studied and has been influenced by the Iyengar, Anusara, and Ashtanga lineages. Tara completed her RYT 200 training at Anahata Yoga Center in Mason, Ohio. Her style now includes mindful alignment cues that focus on opening and releasing to leave you relaxed, aware and free. On her days off, you can find her up in the mountains hiking, in her boat kayaking or mountain biking the local trails. Tara is also a registered nurse having worked in pediatric ICU, and now in pre and post operative care.
In the Lakeside Pool
This session with Natalie Lembeck will begin with a workshop on the nervous system and how slow, fluid rolling movements in and out of the pool can help keep the mind, body and spirit soothed and calm. The resistance of the water in the pool can help with muscular engagement while the buoyancy of the water can give the joints and body a break from gravity. Fluid movements in the water can help wash away worries, cares and fears, allowing the body to feel free and light in the support of the water.
Class: Yoga in the Pool: Balance, Strength, and Ease
What You Need: Bathing suit or sports bra and biker/yoga shorts (whatever makes you feel comfortable), towel to dry off after, and a cover up or change of clothes
Natalie Lembeck responded to her call to yoga over four years ago and finds that the practice of yoga is transformational. Within the first month of practicing yoga asana, she knew she had found something special and was immediately inspired to bring her knowledge to others. She’s a 200 hour Yoga Alliance Certified Yoga Instructor and thrilled to be sharing her passion of yoga with the Waynesville community. Her teaching style ranges from faster-paced, alignment-focused Ashtanga and vinyasa classes to more mellow, fascia-focused yin classes.
Beyond the yoga asana, Natalie incorporates mindfulness and breathing techniques into her classes and makes use of essential oils, incense, and some reiki to promote a soothing, welcoming environment.
This fun and playful workshop and partner yoga class by Jay MacDonald will illustrate the joys of working with a partner for added weight and support (literally and figuratively) in a variety of poses accessible to all levels. There is something unique and special about connecting with the energy and body of a friend/partner that brings a sense of feeling grounded and stable to our yoga practice as we practice to improve balance and strength. Bring your sense of adventure and humor with your yoga mat!
What You Need: Yoga mat and any props you like to use normally
Jay MacDonald is the owner of Waynesville Yoga Center, a Yoga Alliance 500-ERYT (Experienced registered yoga teacher), a YACEP (Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Provider) and has been teaching yoga classes for over 16 years. She started practicing yoga over 30 years ago after a back injury in her college days and hasn’t stopped since because yoga has kept her healthy and sane! Jay believes that all of us stay healthier and happier by staying mobile and active as much as we can in whatever form that takes.
This class with Natalie Lembeck will consist of easeful stretching, accessing the connective tissue in addition to the muscles, and long posture holds. The class will be restorative and soothing to the nervous system with soft lighting. Natalie will guide the class through a blissful Yoga Nidra to promote ease and comfort.
What You Need: Yoga mat, blanket and bolster

The sky is the limit - literally!
What You Need: Water, a journal, a mat, blocks ( if you have them), a pair of scissors, a magazine to share, and any artsy things you would like to add to your vision board or share with your peers!

Amber Kleid (RYT - 500) is a yoga teacher that loves getting yummy with her poses and using her sense of humor to make you feel at ease and welcome. Her style of teaching allows students to find their own expression in each pose. Amber has been practicing yoga postures since the mid 90’s; but her journey didn’t really connect until a few years ago when she was met with some hefty health challenges. Gradually, while practicing mindfulness and patience, her health improved and she took her first teacher training in hopes that sharing her story would help others overcome obstacles.
Thai yoga massage combines stretching, massage techniques, acupressure, and assisted yoga poses to release tension and balance body mind and spirit. In this workshop led by Lynda Saffell you will get in touch with its many benefits. We will practice movements and exercises for individualized self care and learn how to assist a friend or partner with some of these techniques.
Class: Thai Yoga with a Friend
The workshop will be followed by a class where partners will be guided through a series of Thai yoga massage techniques for a truly transformative experience.
What You Need: Yoga mat, blanket, bolster and/or block
Lynda Saffell followed her dream to serve others in a healing capacity. She attended Bhakti Academe for Intuitive Massage and graduated in August 2004. She gained her pain management experience working two years in a chiropractic clinic specializing in neck and back injuries. Lynda has elevated massage to an art with her fine-tuned skill of “listening” to your body and the body’s energy. She practices a combination of relaxation massage, deep tissue therapeutic techniques, and healing energies to release tension and emotional stress and bring your body into balance. Each massage is a wonderful experience, custom designed to your needs in the moment, and includes hot stones and aromatherapy.
This Gentle Yoga class with Jay MacDonald is a slow-paced, soft and nurturing practice supported by props. Set under soft, candle lighting, this class will be the perfect way to relax and restore at the end of the retreat. Following the class, Jay will lead a centering meditation and closing circle.
