Winter Youth Retreats

The Winter Youth Retreats are an opportunity for worship, adventure, and mission in the mountains of Western North Carolina! While energized worship with great bands is built into every program weekend, groups have freedom to choose their recreational activities. You can ski, do a mission project, or explore the local area during your time at Lake Junaluska.

Recent charitable gifts have funded upgrades to youth lodging facilities, the Shackford Hall exterior and auditorium sound and lights, as well as Jones Dining Hall.

Winter 2020 Theme Verse

Do Justice. Love Kindness. Walk Humbly.

Micah 6:8

When God's covenant community asked, “How are we to worship?” The prophet Micah spoke of doing justice, loving kindness and walking humbly with God. At Lake Junaluska's Winter Youth Retreats, we'll explore how all of life can be an act of worship through which we grow in our love of God and one another.

Do a mission project during the Winter Youth Retreats at Lake Junaluska

We help your youth group live out its faith by coordinating 2 to 4 hours of mission work with a local agency on a Saturday morning. Your group will be assigned to one or more of the following based on need and availability: thrift store, food pantry, community kitchen, nursing home, chopping wood, painting, yard work. We will send you your mission work assignment 2-3 weeks before your arrival date. Space is limited.

There are many ways to explore your faith and have fun with your youth group. We can arrange a trip to the Biltmore Estate as a part of your Winter Youth Retreats experience. Alternatively, you can arrange your own itinerary with our options for Area Attractions (pdf). These include Asheville's Fun Depot and downtown, local puzzle rooms, the Western NC Nature Center, and more.
