New Year's Celebration

December 29, 2017–January 1, 2018

Theme: Embrace Winter. Embrace the Word.

"For as the rain and snow come down from heaven...so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth."

Isaiah 55:10-11

Celebrate new beginnings as we ring in the New Year at Lake Junaluska!  Over three days, participants will enjoy engaging preaching and energizing worship, paired with a deejayed New Year's Eve party with all-you-can-eat pizza! Lake Junaluska offers incredible winter programming where groups can customize their experience by choosing to ski, zipline or do mission work during their time at the lake.

Jeremy Steele

Jeremy Steele (Speaker) is the Senior Editor of the Seedbed Youth Ministry Collective and the author of Reclaiming the Lost Soul of Youth Ministry.  He is the Next Generation Minister at Christ UMC in Mobile, Ala. where he oversees ministry to children, youth, and young adults.  He also leads an evening worship service and teaches throughout the church. Look for his new book, The Book of Everyday Prayer: Liturgies for Personal Devotion, in the fall of 2018. This father of four is passionate about reaching people with the message of Jesus in a way that engages them with the movement of God. He has requested several hammers, some plates, and a cinder block for his talks this winter. This could get interesting.

Jimmy Atkins (Worship Band) hails from western NC, where he makes music in several different facets of life.  A worship pastor at a local church, a songwriter at home, and a storyteller abroad, he's gained his following through avenues such as speaking at conferences for the young and old alike, as well as leading the 10-year career of his band, Second Hand City. His most recent project, The Pen & The Page, is his first solo album. Playing anything from acoustic solo shows in the living rooms of homes anywhere to full band concerts with a flare for the conversational part of culture, Jimmy shares music, stories, and life with those he meets.
