Each of these youth group events offers morning and evening sessions with high energy worship, guest preachers and workshops! Events are led by a team of college students, guest speakers, and worship bands. The program is geared towards 6th through 12th graders.
Lake Junaluska Summer Youth Events draw diverse youth groups from multiple states. The events are large enough to be lively and exciting, while never so big that youth feel lost or anonymous. Our prayer is that each participant feels seen and known by Lake Junaluska’s youth ministry staff, small group and workshop leaders, other youth and most importantly by God.
Afternoons are free for groups to plan rafting trips, do mission work or enjoy the swimming pool or boats at Lake Junaluska.
Charlie Conder (speaker) is an Orange Student Specialist who coaches youth pastors on maximizing the Orange strategy in their ministries. While she served for a decade as a middle school youth minister in a thriving large United Methodist Church in Atlanta, Ga, she also has a heart for small churches. “Ministry doesn’t have to happen at only mega churches; ministry can happen with three students. I love empowering our small churches because they too can lead change in their community!”
Abbye West Pates (Worship Leader) is a worship leader from Memphis, TN. Originally from south Mississippi, she spent her summers at Lake Junaluska with her youth group. She's excited to be here leading others in worship, with her husband Jeff. Abbye and Jeff live in community, where they grow their own food, cook lots of meals, and find joy in opening their home for their friends and neighbors. Learn more at: www.abbyewestpates.com.
