Audition to be a Lake Junaluska Singer


The Lake Junaluska Singers, directed by Dr. Melodie Galloway, are a professional vocal ensemble which serves as the Ambassador choir for the Southeastern Jurisdiction of The United Methodist Church and of the Lake Junaluska Conference and Retreat Center. Auditions to join this premier group are now open.

Paid positions are available for advanced singers. The Lake Junaluska Singers will lead worship services at Lake Junaluska, NC, for 10 weeks, June 1 - August 9, 2015, present professional-level concerts, and perform as a member of a premiere 16-voice choral ensemble throughout the summer and 2 contracted concert weekends, October and December 2015. Housing and meals are provided.

The Lake Junaluska Singers began in 1954 and has performed nationally and internationally for conferences, dignitaries, and major events. In 2014, the group gave over 60 live performances to more than 6,000 people to rave reviews. Their concerts are inspiring and worshipful.

Becoming a Lake Junaluska Singer is a wonderful and challenging opportunity for singers ages 18-27.


  • Sing 1 classical piece (art song or aria), and 1 contrasting song (musical theater, gospel, spiritual, etc.); you will sing a short sight-singing example; brief interview.
  • Strong sight reading is preferred; seeking singers with a dynamic stage presence; auditioning all voice parts
