Dr. Jody Seymour to preach at Lake Junaluska Summer Worship Series

Dr. Jody Seymour will be the guest preacher during the final worship service in the 2015 Lake Junaluska Summer Worship Series in Stuart Auditorium Sunday, August 9. Lake Junaluska offers world class preachers each summer during its annual Summer Worship Series.

Dr. Seymour is the author of four books, Looking for God in All the Wrong Places, Finding God Between the Lines, A Time for Healing: Overcoming the Perils of Ministry, Lost but Making Excellent Time: Transforming the Rat Race into a Pilgrimage, and Marking the Gospel: A Devotional Commentary on the Gospel of Mark. Seymour is also a certified Enneagram instructor. The Enneagram is a personality system that is often used in spiritual direction.

“My passion is to take the old story and make it come alive. I love to help people formulate questions of faith before we ever get to the answers. The spiritual pilgrimage is not only about ‘having arrived,’ but about experiencing the journey and seeking to understand the challenges that come with such a journey,” said Dr. Seymour.

Seymour's roots go back to Biloxi, Mississippi. He moved with his family to North Carolina during the elementary school days and has served as the Senior Pastor of Davidson United Methodist church for the past 11 years. After graduating from Greensboro College and Duke Divinity School, he did his Doctoral work in Spiritual Formation through the Graduate Theological Foundation. He also studied one year at Candler School of Theology at Emory on a Lily Foundation program in Congregational Analysis.

Each Sunday during the Worship Series, Holy Communion Service will be held at 8:30 a.m. in Memorial Chapel. Presiding over the service will be our new Dean of the Chapel, Rev. Susan Giles. Adult Sunday School will be offered at 9:30 a.m. at the Harrell Center, followed by traditional morning worship at 10:45 a.m. in historic Stuart Auditorium, with guest preachers. Inspirational worship music will be provided by The Lake Junaluska Singers. Childcare is offered at the 10:45 a.m. service for children six months old and older at the Wilson Children’s Complex, 21 Shackford Hall Road.
