This Sunday, July 12, marks the first Holy Communion Service of the summer at 8:30 a.m. in Memorial Chapel. Presiding over the service will be our new Dean of the Chapel, Rev. Susan Giles. These morning services will continue through August 9.
Each Sunday during the Worship Series, adult Sunday School will be offered at 9:30 a.m. at the Harrell Center, followed by traditional morning worship at 10:45 a.m. in historic Stuart Auditorium, with guest preachers. Inspirational worship music will be provided by The Lake Junaluska Singers. Childcare is offered at the 10:45 a.m. service for children six months old and older at the Wilson Children’s Complex, 21 Shackford Hall Road.
Each Monday, a Taize Service Of Prayer And Song will be held at 8 p.m. in Memorial Chapel. This service, Martin said, is a contemplative service in a casual atmosphere, modeled after the Taize Community in France, where participants engage in simple repetitive songs, scripture, candlelight, and silence. “The Taize service offers space to slow down from our busy lives and spend time listening to God,” Martin said.
Guest preachers include Bishop Richard Looney, July 19; Dr. Derrick-Lewis Noble, July 26; Bishop Thomas Bickerton, August 2; and Dr. Jody Seymour, August 9.
