Easter at Lake Junaluska


Families are invited to Lake Junaluska April 4-5 for a weekend of Easter activities and worship services. Activities include the Friends of the Lake 5k, Easter egg hunts, egg decorating contests, and our annual sunrise service.

“Lake Junaluska is delighted once again to invite the community to our family events. This weekend is a highlight of our celebration of Easter and spring. Lake Junaluska has always been a place for families – children, youth, and adults – to enjoy themselves with recreation and reflection,” said Executive Director Jack Ewing.

On Saturday, April 4, activities begin with the Friends of the Lake 5K at 8:30 a.m., followed by the 5K Family Walk and Children’s Fun Run. Registration begins at 7:00 a.m. and is required for the races.

Indoor children’s activities, including an egg decorating contest and more begin at 10:30 a.m. in the Harrell Center Auditorium. Prizes will be awarded for the egg decorating contest. Easter egg hunts will take place near Stuart Auditorium beginning at 11:00 a.m. Children ages 1 – 12 are welcome to participate.

This year’s Easter sunrise service will feature guest preacher Rev. Jim Correll and a brass ensemble with special music. The service will take place at 7:00 a.m. on Sunday, April 5 at the Lake Junaluska amphitheater and cross. Rain location is Memorial Chapel. Following the sunrise service, breakfast will be served in the Lambuth Inn from 7:30 a.m. until 9:00 a.m.

Long’s Chapel’s Easter service is schedule in Stuart Auditorium at 10:25 a.m. Lake Junaluska’s annual Easter lunch buffet will be held in the Terrace Hotel. Tickets are available at the Bethea Welcome Center or by making a reservation at 828-454-6662.

Easter Egg Hunts:

  • 11:00 a.m.: Ages 1-3
  • 11:15 a.m.: Ages 4-7
  • 11:30 a.m.: Ages 8-12

Children's activities located near Stuart Auditorium and inside Harrell Center Auditorium.


7:00 a.m.: Easter Sunrise Service, Amphitheater at the Cross

7:30 a.m.–9:00 a.m.: Easter Breakfast Buffet at Lambuth Inn
Tickets available at the front desk of the Lambuth on Sunday morning.

10:30 a.m.: Long's Chapel UMC Easter Service, Stuart Auditorium

11:30 a.m.–2:30 p.m.: Easter Lunch Buffet, The Terrace
