TripAdvisor, the world’s largest travel website, recently honored Lake Junaluska Conference and Retreat Center and the center’s hotels The Terrace and Lambuth Inn with 2019 Certificate of Excellence awards.
The achievement celebrates businesses that are consistently excellent – having earned great traveler reviews on TripAdvisor over the past year. Certificate of Excellence recipients include restaurants, accommodations and attractions located all over the world that have continually delivered a quality customer experience.
“We are grateful to our guests for sharing their experiences at Lake Junaluska with others and for taking the time to write reviews,” said Ken Howle, executive director of Lake Junaluska. “What they say about the scenic beauty and warm welcome they experience here means a lot to us.”
Neela Pal, vice president of brand with TripAdvisor, said the Certificate of Excellence recognition “allows us to publicly recognize businesses that are actively taking into account customer feedback to help travelers confidently experience the most highly reviewed places to eat, stay and explore.”
Businesses do not apply for the Certificate of Excellence. TripAdvisor selects recipients based on the quality, quantity and recency of reviews submitted by travelers on its site over a 12-month period. To qualify, a business must maintain an overall TripAdvisor bubble rating of at least four out of five, have a minimum number of reviews and must have been listed on TripAdvisor for at least 12 months. The designation is presented to about 10 percent of the businesses on TripAdvisor.
Lake Junaluska Conference and Retreat Center and on-site hotels The Terrace and Lambuth Inn have, in all, won 10 TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence awards since 2016.
Rob Huckaby, general manager and chief operating officer at Lake Junaluska, said being recognized again this year by TripAdvisor in all three properties, based on positive guest reviews is meaningful to him and the staff.
"We work hard every day to exceed our guests' expectations, and we are thrilled to have received the Certificate of Excellence awards for the Conference and Retreat Center, Lambuth Inn and The Terrace Hotel in 2019,” said Huckaby. “These awards speak to how happy our guests are.”
Lake Junaluska Conference and Retreat Center is located on a 200-acre lake in the mountains of Western North Carolina. The center offers lodging not only for groups and program attendees but also travelers and leisure guests at accommodations including The Terrace lakeside hotel and historic Lambuth Inn. Amenities include a paved 3.8-mile lakeside walking trail, outdoor pool, playground, tennis courts, gardens, golf course, kayak and paddle board rentals, and more.
“The mission of Lake Junaluska is to be a place of Christian hospitality where lives are transformed through renewal of soul, mind and body,” said Howle. “Whether working in the gardens, dining hall, housekeeping or greeting guests at the front desk, our staff lives into the mission by being welcoming, engaged and knowledgeable. It's exciting to see their hard work and dedication recognized through these online reviews.”
