Lake Junaluska Golf Course will host a 100th Anniversary Wrap-Up Golf Tournament on Saturday, Oct. 5.
“We look forward to celebrating 100 years at the Lake Junaluska Golf Course with a fun-filled day of golf and camaraderie,” said Fred Edwards, director of golf operations.
The tournament begins at 1 p.m. with a shotgun start and will be a two-person, captain’s choice format. The $40 per player registration fee for the tournament includes green fee, cart fee and a closest-to-the-pin contest. Mulligans may be purchased for $5, and each player is limited to two.
During this centennial year, generous supporters and community members have given a total of $15,000 to support the replacement of two bridges near the third and 10th greens.
“One of the best parts of this 100th anniversary has been hearing from families about their love for this course,” said Edwards. “These special gifts in honor of the centennial are truly meaningful, helping to transform the golf course for the next generation."
To join in support of this Golf Course Centennial project, charitable donations can be made at the tournament, online at lakejunaluska.com/support with “Golf Centennial” typed in the notes section, or by calling 828-454-6749.
"We are excited about the future," said Edwards. "The bridge replacements along with the improvements we are making such as reseeding tees and fairways will jumpstart the next 100 years of golf at Lake Junaluska."
