Make plans to attend the Lake Junaluska Singer Alumni Fundraising concert on Saturday, August 6 at 2 p.m. in Stuart Auditorium. Proceeds from the concert, a love offering, and a gift from the Lake Junaluska Associates will go towards the purchase of a new microphone sound system for the Lake Junaluska Singers.
The concert will also celebrate the legacy of the Lake Junaluska Singers, bringing together Singers alumni from several decades to perform under the direction of Dr. Melodie Galloway. Galloway has been the director of the Lake Junaluska Singers since 2009. Dr. Glenn Draper, who led the Singers for 55 years, will make a special appearance.
The Lake Junaluska Singers were formed in 1954, and their legacy includes national and international performances for conferences, dignitaries and major events. Their mission is to express joy and hope through vocal and harmonic artistry at the highest level of excellence. That mission has been evident in each performance over the past 62 years. Their music ranges from classical choral and contemporary works to gospel, folk, traditional hymns and musical theatre styles.
