Lake Junaluska to offer Choir Music Weekend

LAKE JUNALUSKA, N.C. - This fall, Oct. 19-21, Lake Junaluska invites church choirs to come together for Choir Music Weekend to broaden their musical repertoires, learn new vocal skills and enjoy time for recreation and fellowship.

During the weekend, experienced choral leaders will teach eight different anthems and lead workshops along a variety of topics. A track for handbells is also available.

Choir Music Weekend is especially geared to small and medium-sized choirs.

“Lake Junaluska has a wonderful tradition of musical excellence, and Choir Music Weekend is no exception,” said Tammy McDowell, assistant director of programming at Lake Junaluska. “For any choir looking to reenergize their worship and grow closer as a community, this weekend provides that opportunity.”

“The theme for this year’s weekend is “For The Beauty of the Earth: The Handprint of God.” The theme is inspired by the concept of creation, that in all of creation you see and experience the hand of God. The weekend will feature hymns of creation so that choirs can support conversations that may be happening in their churches about caring for creation and stewardship of the earth.

The weekend is set during peak leaf-looking season in Western North Carolina, and so attendees can enjoy the artistry of nature as they improve their choral knowledge.

A program fee of $75 includes anthem packet, worship and workshops. Lodging packages are available starting at $160 per person with two nights lodging at The Terrace or Lambuth Inn and five meals. Rates are per person and are based on the number of people per room.
