Lake Junaluska Wins Eight Awards from the United Methodist Association of Communicators


Lake Junaluska, N.C. – Lake Junaluska has won eight awards from the United Methodist Association of Communicators (UMAC) for newsletters, publications, social media, photography and website content.

UMAC is a professional organization that honors excellence for United Methodist communicators across the country.

“We are honored that the marketing staff has been nationally recognized for their excellent work promoting Lake Junaluska and Haywood County,” said Ken Howle, executive director of Lake Junaluska. “Last year their work helped us attract more than 50,000 overnight visitors from all 50 states and 35 different countries to experience not just Lake Junaluska, but all Haywood County has to offer.”

Lake Junaluska won two first-place awards: first place in the newsletter category for the Junaluska Weekly, a community publication highlighting events and stories about Lake Junaluska during the summer; and first place in the e-publication category for an email newsletter distributed each month.

Lake Junaluska also won two second place awards: second place in website content for; and second place in portrait photography for a photograph promoting the eclipse package at Lake Junaluska.

Four third place awards included: third place in the special publication category for Discover Magazine; third place in the social media category for the Lake Junaluska Instagram page; third place in portrait photography for a photo of canoeing at Lake Junaluska; and third place for a photo series that appeared in the 2017 Discover Magazine.
