Ski Lake Junaluska’s winter season will kick off with a New Year’s Celebration featuring Dr. Derrick-Lewis Noble and worship band TransMission on December 30 - January 1.
The celebration includes skiing, worship on Tuesday and Wednesday evening, and a late night pizza party to ring in the New Year.
Dr. Derrick-Lewis Noble is an award-winning preacher and motivational speaker, having recently been recognized as one of the top 20 young preachers in America. He is highly sought after as a revivalist, keynote speaker, seminar leader, and motivator, and is a past member of the National Speakers Association. Derrick was recently selected by Abingdon Press and the United Methodist Publishing House to write both the adult and teen curriculum for Vacation Bible School for the year 2013.
TransMission, a worship ministry of the Salvation Army, will provide engaging and transformative worship throughout the celebration.
Not only will youth worship and ski during Ski Lake Junaluska, they will also be invited to participate in Ski Lake Junaluska’s winter mission offering that will benefit Imagine No Malaria. Imagine No Malaria is an organization dedicated to putting faith into action to end preventable deaths by malaria in Africa.
“Our goal of $4,000 by the end of the winter will purchase nets through Nothing But Nets and provide tools of prevention, treatment, and education about this preventable disease,” said Jennifer Martin, Director of Program Ministries at Lake Junaluska.
Other speakers and bands for Ski Lake Junaluska include Mark Oestreicher, Andy Lambert, Celia Whitler, Lane Davis, Steve Keaton, The Wayne Kerr Band, Second Hand City, and Forgotten City.
