With activities from bonfires and yoga to online worship services and virtual concerts, the Summer Activities Program will have something for everyone this year.
During the month of July, the program will offer free and low-cost activities that celebrate faith, recreation, the arts and education to help residents and visitors alike find community and make memories. A schedule of upcoming events for the week will be shared on the Summer Activities Program webpage and in the Junaluska Weekly, which can be picked up at Junaluska Gifts & Grounds, the Recreation Hut or The Terrace front desk.
“We are looking forward to summer and are committed to hosting activities that make it possible to have fun and also stay safe,” said Tammy McDowell, assistant director of programming at Lake Junaluska.
To comply with COVID-19 safety guidelines, activities will be online or designed for groups of limited size that meet outside and in places that allow for social distancing.
Morning devotions by the lake, movie nights, parents night out, storytime, bird and garden tours, swamped canoe races, paddleboard lessons, scavenger hunts and more are possible. Plus during the Fourth of July weekend, special program activities will take place throughout the day each day.
Online summer worship services and concerts also are planned with the first coming up Friday, June 19.
A virtual Lake Junaluska Singers concert entitled “Juneteenth: A Celebration of African-American Composers and Performers” will be streamed live at 7:15 p.m.
The Summer Activities Program is made possible through charitable giving.
