Registration open for spring Lake Junaluska Golf Course PGA Jr. League team

Registration is now open for the spring/summer PGA Jr. League team at Lake Junaluska Golf Course for players age 13 and younger of all skill levels, including beginners.

During the season, which runs from mid-May through the end of July, the team will host up to five one-hour afternoon practices at the Lake Junaluska Golf Course. Practices cover skills such as putting, chipping and playing as a team.

The team also will participate in up to five afternoon matches, which will be a two-person scramble format in which team players work together, hitting the “best ball” of each of their two shots throughout the match.

The team captain is Charlie Carswell, a PGA golf professional who serves as pro shop manager and golf professional at the Lake Junaluska Golf Course.

The registration fee of $190 per player includes team practice sessions, matches, home and away jerseys, bag tag, a performance ball cap, performance T-shirt, drawstring bag, access to the PGA Jr. League Merchandise Store, 10 percent discount on items in stock at the Lake Junaluska pro shop and a 10 percent discount on individual lessons. Scholarships are available.

To register for the Lake Junaluska PGA Jr. team, visit and register by Thursday, April 30. If 24 or more participants register, Lake Junaluska will host an in-house league.

For more information about the league, for details about scholarship assistance or to express interest from golfers ages 14 to 17 in participating, contact Carswell at 828-456-5777 or
