Cataloochee Ski Trips: Stay at Lake Junaluska

Lake Junaluska is just 12 miles from one of the best places to ski and snowboard in the South, Cataloochee Ski Area in Maggie Valley. At 5,400 feet elevation, they have a vertical drop of 740 feet. The longest run is 2/3 of a mile! We invite you and your family to stay with us for your ski vacation to the North Carolina mountains at The Terrace hotel or Lambuth Inn. We also offer Group Ski Packages!

At Cataloochee, enjoy panoramic views of the Great Smokies as you ride 18 slopes and trails on 50 acres. Their advanced snowmaking system creates great skiing conditions much of the winter. If you have never skied, sign up for a lesson your first day. You can rent equipment and clothing if needed.

New for 2020-21 Ski Season: Find many added safety procedures this year at Cataloochee to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Skiing is naturally low-risk recreation since you are outdoors with plenty of space on the slopes. Plus, standard gear includes face coverings, goggles, gloves and helmets. In addition, they have added a long list of preventative practices that follow scientific guidelines put forth by infectious disease experts, including the CDC and WHO - including plenty of physically distancing, cleaning and daily employee wellness checks. Read the complete "Ski Well Be Well" procedures adopted by the NC Ski Areas Association.

New for this year will be online reservations and equipment rental to get on the slopes faster and avoid extra lines.
